Huskies Mission Statement

Learning From the Past; Focusing on the Present; While Preparing for Our Future!
Welcome to Hot Springs Elementary School!

Welcome and Thanks for Visiting our Website!  On behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome to you Hot Springs Elementary School. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to many successful and productive learning experiences. Our goal is to work together to provide every child with the best education possible.

Hot Springs Elementary serves approximately 129 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  I feel very fortunate to be the principal at Hot Springs Elementary and look forward to serving the teachers, students, parents and community.

I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and come from a long line of educators. I have lived in Madison County for 24 years. I moved to North Carolina in 1991 and attended Warren Wilson College for a year before starting my family. After my daughters were born, I went back to school and graduated from Mars Hill University in 1999. I began teaching at Walnut Elementary the summer after the arson fire. It was a tragic yet blessed way to begin my teaching career. This experience instilled in me a love of small schools!
In 2001, I transitioned with the staff of Walnut Elementary, Marshall Primary, and Marshall Elementary to create Brush Creek Elementary School. I had the honor of working at BCES from 2002-2015. I taught 2nd grade for 14 years and 1st grade for 2 years.

In 2013, I completed an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and received my administrator's license. Although I love teaching young children, I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to leave the classroom. On October 15, 2015 I was named principal of Hot Springs Elementary. Although this transition occurred after the start of school,  the school community has welcomed me and I am so thankful to be working here!

We hope that you get involved in the activities of our school and we look forward to working with you!  Parents, families, and community members are such an important part of our school and our children’s education.

Please feel free to email me (kdillon@madisonk12.net), call, or stop by the school. The beginning of each month, I will send out Hot Springs Elementary - The Huskie's Howl newsletter and emails with school highlights and information.  If you would like to get your email address on a mailing list please email me.
Again, thanks for visiting and Go Hot Springs Huskies!
